The First Time I Did a Bungee Jump (scroll down for the answers)
I’ll never forget the first time I did a bungee jump. It was during a weekend trip to New Zealand with friends, and although I’d always considered myself to be ______________(ADVENTURE), standing on the edge of that platform made me question everything.
People often say you have to be ___________________(FEAR) to jump, but I wasn't, not at all. My legs were shaking, my palms sweating. The instructor, who was surprisingly calm and ____________________(COMPASSION), didn’t rush me. I think he sensed I needed a moment.
What pushed me over the edge (literally) was the mix of fear, peer pressure, and an __________________(AMUSE) comment from my best friend: “You’ve come all this way just to chicken out?” It made me laugh, and that _______________(LAUGH) gave me courage.
The moment I jumped was _______________(TOTAL) surreal; seconds of freefall that felt like eternity. Then the cord caught, and I bounced back up into the air, screaming and laughing at the same time.
Back on solid ground, I felt both __________________(PRIDE) that I had done it and _____________________(RELIEF) that it was over!
